Spring Auction and BBQ

Our last big fund raiser of the year!  April 29th at Cactus Park.  This is always such as fun time for our Kachina family!  I hope everyone will come!  We will have the Silent Auction of the class baskets, as usual, and there will be a "Pick Your Prize" raffle as well.

Right now we need donations.  There is a letter in the PTO mailbox that everyone should come by and pick up explaining the Auction and asking for donations.  The letter can be given to any business as a request for a tax deductable donation.  We need big and small donations for everything from the class baskets to the raffle.

This will be a bittersweet event, I know.  But I hope everyone can still get behind the PTO and throw a really great party!

Yes, the end is coming

My apologies for not writing sooner!  It has been an eventful Christmas and New Year season.

As everyone now knows, Kachina Country Day School has been denied Charter renewal, which means that at the end of this school year the school will close.

That is terribly sad news, I know.  I am very disappointed to have looked so long for a good school, only to have situations beyond my control take it away again.

However, there are still four months of this year left, and I want to make the time remaining as good for the students as possible!

So, we still have our Spring Book Fair--begins next week! Be sure to check the website!  And will have more PTO dinners out, a Spring Silent Auction and BBQ and more!  I hope everyone sticks with the school through end!

There is another school coming in to the Kachina spot--it is a private school, not charter, but Mr. Steve will be the principal and it will be in the same building with some of the same teachers.  I am hoping that Scottsdale Country Day School will be a great alternative for our families.

Thanksgiving is coming!
Mood:  special

The Honey Baked Ham orders arrive today!  I hope the sale went well!  I hope everyone remembers to come get their hams too! :)

A half day to celebrate the beginning of the Holiday season, with fun classroom activities and holiday parties.  What a great time of year!

The Fall Food drive is continuing--we'll pick it up again after the break.  I am so grateful for everyone who is sending in food for their classes' donations.

Then it is in to December!  The next PTO meeting is December 8th.  We're already gettting ready for January!

Busy Time of Year!
Mood:  caffeinated

What a busy month we have coming!  Parent-teacher conferences finish out October, with a 1/2 day on Wednesday.  A great way to spend that 1/2 day with the kids...at Panda Express!  We are running a  fund raiser that afternoon and evening from 1:00-8:00!  I hope everyone comes over for lunch that day, or after their conferences for dinner!

November ushers in the end of the Cookie Dough orders, and the beginning of the Honey Baked Ham orders.  Both will be delivered on November 19th, so a great time to pick up Thanksgiving dinner and dessert.  Along with enough baking to last through the holiday!

November 1st is also when our Annual Fall Food Drive will begin.  Caroline Pilkinton will be running that this year for us.  All the donations go to the Paradise Valley Emergency Food Bank, so everything stays in our neighborhood for our neighbors.  I hope folks empty their cupboards to fill others'.

Two holidays--Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving.  Then back to school for a week before December begins!  We'll have more food drive, a book fair December 11th, and there are rumors of another Minimall!

A busy time indeed!

Something New!
Mood:  bright

Fresh & Easy!  What a nice store!  We have a new fund raiser already underway with Fresh & Easy.  Our families need to collect receipts worth $20 or more, and Fresh & Easy will donate $1!  What a great deal!

They don't combine receipts, so two receipts worth $10 each would not get us any donations, but for every $20, we'll get another $1.  So, for a $40 receipt, we'll get $2, for $60 we'll get $3, and so on!

The collection has already started, and it only runs through December 31, so I hope people hear about it and get collecting soon!
