And so it begins!

Wow!  I can't believe we are two weeks away from the beginning of the school year at Kachina!  I am looking forward to meeting all the new folks and seeing old friends again!

If you are new to KCDS, please come back to check the PTO site often--it will be updated often through the school year.  I also love to hear from anyone with ideas, so please email me or leave a note in the PTO mail box any time!

Mood:  silly

We are almost there!  Only a month left of school--or so--and there is still so much to do!  So many exciting things happy in May:

May 7th is Field Day.  Should be fun--the PTO has been trying to get one organized for months!  I'm glad the school can finally do it!

May 12th is the last PTO meeting of this academic year.  We will be finishing our money spending, making new plans, and getting ready to wrap up another year. I hope we have a lot of people come give their ideas!

May 13th is McTeacher's night.  It should be fun!  They don't let the teachers work the cash register any more, but many of them are still willing to come "work" selling coupon books and walking the dining room talking to everyone.  It is our last big hoorah for a fund raiser--it has real potential because we get 15% of everything that night.  Including the drive thru!  That could be great!

May 14th is the Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast! 7:30-9:00am If you helped ANYWHERE this year--please plan to stop by for bagels, muffins, fruit...yummy "Thank You" fare!

May 17th to 21st.  Buy One/Get One Scholastic Book Fair.  Haven't done a "case only" fair before.  I hope people still come around for it.  No profit from this one for the school--only books in the hands of more kids.  I hope everyone takes advantage!

The same week as the fair is the Minimall and the Talent Show!  What a wild week for the kids!

And then the following week is the LAST week already!  The older kids will go to Sun Splash that week--and then everyone is finished with a 1/2 day on Wednesday the 26th!

So, soon we'll be in the summer!  I hope everyone is checking out the Kachina Summer Camp and the Mad Scientist Camp.  Both sound great.

What a Great Night!
Mood:  happy

What a fun time I had at the Spring Auction and Pot Luck!  We obviously changed the focus a little--Pot Luck rather than BBQ--but I don't think anyone missed it!  At least I hope not!

It looks like we raised a little more than $1300--plus the Bishop family has again offered to match the funds raised, so it was a REALLY big night!  Thanks so much to them for that!

And thank you to everyone who came, purchased raffle tickets, donated, bid on the auction...it really is because of your support that the night was a success at all!

Spring Auction and BBQ
Mood:  special

Come celebrate the end of aims testing at The Spring Silent Auction and BBQ

April 23 at 5:00pm at Cactus Park.

Silent Auction:  We are currently collecting items of any type

and value for the auction.  If you have anything you could offer, or know of a business that would donate something in return for a tax deduction and free publicity, please contact the PTO as soon as possible.

Class basket:  Alongside any “Big ticket” items in the auction

will be a “theme basket” from each class.  Classes ask families to donate items worth $5 to $10.  Cash or theme-specific items are welcome.  Please watch for information from your teachers about what theme your class will be creating.  **If you have any items that do not fit the class theme, please consider donating anyway—we’ll find another class basket, or use the item as another auction item/raffle prize!

Raffle:  Along with the Auction, there will be a “Selective

Raffle” running.  We need lots of items for this raffle—of any type or value.  If you have anything you could offer, or know of a business that would donate something in return for a tax deduction and free publicity, please contact the PTO as soon as possible.

BBQ:  The Auction/BBQ will be at Cactus Park in Scottsdale.  If

you can help, please contact the PTO as soon as possible.  Ticket sales for the BBQ will begin April 19th.  Please watch for an order form to come home soon!

Book Fair!
Mood:  on fire

The Book Fair has been so much fun!  Books have been selling light crazy, and many of the teachers' wish lists are getting filled.

Breakfast and Books was really well attended--I loved the decorations Anna Kiel put up!  Such a creative mind!

The Evening Art Event was great too!  We had 87 votes for the door contest!  Wow!  The goodies went over well, and everyone seemed to really enjoy the evening.  I can't wait to tell the students that the winning class is...
