Spring Auction and BBQ
Mood:  special

Come celebrate the end of aims testing at The Spring Silent Auction and BBQ

April 23 at 5:00pm at Cactus Park.

Silent Auction:  We are currently collecting items of any type

and value for the auction.  If you have anything you could offer, or know of a business that would donate something in return for a tax deduction and free publicity, please contact the PTO as soon as possible.

Class basket:  Alongside any “Big ticket” items in the auction

will be a “theme basket” from each class.  Classes ask families to donate items worth $5 to $10.  Cash or theme-specific items are welcome.  Please watch for information from your teachers about what theme your class will be creating.  **If you have any items that do not fit the class theme, please consider donating anyway—we’ll find another class basket, or use the item as another auction item/raffle prize!

Raffle:  Along with the Auction, there will be a “Selective

Raffle” running.  We need lots of items for this raffle—of any type or value.  If you have anything you could offer, or know of a business that would donate something in return for a tax deduction and free publicity, please contact the PTO as soon as possible.

BBQ:  The Auction/BBQ will be at Cactus Park in Scottsdale.  If

you can help, please contact the PTO as soon as possible.  Ticket sales for the BBQ will begin April 19th.  Please watch for an order form to come home soon!

Book Fair!
Mood:  on fire

The Book Fair has been so much fun!  Books have been selling light crazy, and many of the teachers' wish lists are getting filled.

Breakfast and Books was really well attended--I loved the decorations Anna Kiel put up!  Such a creative mind!

The Evening Art Event was great too!  We had 87 votes for the door contest!  Wow!  The goodies went over well, and everyone seemed to really enjoy the evening.  I can't wait to tell the students that the winning class is...

Scholastic Book Fair
Mood:  on fire

The Scholastic Book Fair!  What an exciting time!  The Fair officially begins this Friday with the teacher preview day.  Then the students start filing through on Monday!  I am working that first shift myself--I hope to see lots of eager faces and full wish lists! :)

The parents are welcome to come anytime the fair is open--I'm hoping they'll come at the same time their kids come through.  We have a pretty open schedule with hours every day except Wednesday, then we're open Wednesday night, so hopefully there is a time in the schedule for everyone.

The morning and evening events should be fun too!  Tuesday morning is the Breakfast and Books event--the whole family should come!  No more moms one day and dads another!  Anna Kiel has a nice spread of goodies for that morning too!  Then Wednesday evening is the voting for the door decorating contest!  I hope the students really get into it!  I'd love to see Mr. Steve duct taped to the wall! :)

The Fair ends Friday with prizes for the best door and for the most coins collected for the One For Books Campaign.  We already have 34 books donated; we should be able to donate 100 by the end of the week!

See everyone there!

Newest News!
Mood:  special

I am excited to announce our newest method of communication!  The PTO Post!  The PTO felt that, without the Wednesday folders, there should be a consistent method of communication between the PTO and the school population.  We decided to have a weekly flyer go home--preferably with the Monday packet teachers send home--to keep folks informed.  Unfortunately, the first one was delayed a day, but it did go home with a lot of students today (Tuesday, January 26).

Also excited to hear from Brenda Spangrud that we are set to go the Chuck E. Cheese in March!

Thanks to everyone who came to Panda Express last week too--what a great time!  A lot of folks went right over after school for lunch and had a great time together.

Biggest news is the Scholastic Book Fair!  The workshop is tomorrow (Wed., Jan. 27)--so we should have some good ideas!  I hope we get a lot of folks volunteering!

December Meeting
Mood:  lucky

We had a great meeting this week.  There were so many things to talk about!

First:  The Vending Machine.  At the November meeting, a parent approached the board with concerns about the vending machine.  During the last month, the PTO has been talking to teachers and parents about it and have developed a Code of Conduct that will be posted by the machine and sent home for parents and students to sign.  We feel this Code addresses the concerns brought up at the meeting, and encourage you to read it carefully when it comes home.  It will also be posted on our website for you and your studets to review anytime.

Second:  Barnes and Noble Book Fair. We are very excited about this fun fund raiser!  This is the first time we have done a book fair with this store, and we have so many fun activities planned for the day!  Be sure to check your child's backpack for a schedule of when his/her class will be shopping or highlighted in the store.  Be sure to stick around for the others too--we have live music, breakfast with the Principal, dinner with the teachers...a really fun day!  Stop by the Gift Wrap table and have your gifts wrapped by our students, faculty and parents too!
