Peter Piper Pizza!
Mood:  cool

Peter Piper Pizza night was great.  Everyone had a wonderful time last Thursday eating pizza.  Thank you everyone who came!  Peter Piper informs us that we made about $220 from the evening's event--that is a lot of pizza!

A belated Happy Birthday to Mr. Steve--he came to Peter Piper that night and had cake with the kids.  It was nice to see him on what was a family night!  There were several teachers there too!  If you didn't come this time, make a note now to come to Chuck E. Cheese in March!

The next big event is the Scholastic Book Fair.  I am eager to see how that goes.  I have never been through one of these events--Debbie is the Coordinator of the sale, and she has had a lot of success with it in the past.  I am especially excited about the One 4 Books campaign.  For every dollar donated, a book is donated to Toys for Tots or other similar charity.  I hope we set the campaign on fire!

Pizza and Cookies!
Mood:  hug me

The cookie dough sale was great.  We made a little more than $1200, so almost enough for the computer projector system our tech expert thinks we need.  We had 43 students sell, and everyone seems happy with their orders and prizes.  There were 18 students who sold more than 10 items, so they were eligible for the big prize drawings.  It was fun to see the kids so excited for the drawing at flag ceremony--Mr. Steve had fun too!

Peter Piper Pizza night is tomorrow, Feb 19.  From 3:30-8:00, 15% of their sales from Kachina families will be donated to the PTO!   I know the students are getting excited--I hope we have a great turn out.  Mrs. Johnson's 4th graders worked out how much money we should make that night if everyone comes and spends $15.  We'll have to see how close they got!

You did it!
Mood:  celebratory

The Cookie Dough fundraiser is finally finished!  We raised over $1200 toward the purchase of a new projector for the computer lab at the school!  How exciting!  The prizes will be awarded Friday, Feb 12 at the flag ceremony in the morning before school.  There were 18 kids who sold more than 10 products to be eligible for the prize drawing--I'm excited to see who wins!

Two more exciting fund raisers coming up should be fun--Pizza Nights!  Feb 19 at Peter Piper Pizza at Thunderbird and Tatum and Chuck E. Cheese on March 26--everyone who brings in a flyer and purchases ANYthing automatically donates 15% of the sale to Kachina!  How easy is that!

Our next big fund raising project is the Scholastic Book Fair in March.  Debbie is hard at work getting everything ready for that week-long event.  It should be a lot of fun--Muffins for Moms, Donuts for Dads and a VIP night for the whole family to come out and see the kids' school and buy books!  Can you tell I'm excited about this time of year? Yeah!

Reading Club
Mood:  not sure
The Reading Club is set to begin this week!  I am excited to finally have a program for the kids at no cost.  I hope it goes well--notice about the club did not get out when I was hoping it would, so here's hoping a few kids make it, and the word of mouth really carries it to next week!

Cookie Dough!
Mood:  bright

Well, the cookie dough sale is underway!  I hope everyone is selling!  The PTO realizes it is a hard time--the economy the way it is--but here's hoping we get a good response!

An upcoming project we are excited about--The Reading Club is starting!  Mrs. Johnson is going to head that club for us, for the K-5th graders.  It should be fun!  I hope lots of kids can come--there is a flyer going home about the club this week.  There is a slot for parent volunteers to sign up too--Mrs. Johnson would love to have help.

We are also excited to be getting ready for a night out for pizza!  We are looking at Chuck E. Cheese and Peter Piper Pizza as places that will run a fund raiser for us--families just go eat pizza on certain nights of the week, and WE get a cut of the money spent!  How easy is that!  And the teachers eat free at Chuck E. Cheese--so hopefully we'll get a nice night out together.
