Last year we collected 1000 pounds of food for the local Paradise Valley Emergency Food Bank!  We will reach that this year or possibly break our own record with 1500 pounds! Every little bit helps!  Please look through your cupboards and see if you can spare a can or two, or if you see a great deal, pick up an extra for the food drive!

The class that brings in the most pounds of food will have an ice cream party!  Each class will log the weight of their donations weekly, keeping a running tally of the total weight. We will announce the heaviest class on Monday, December 7th!

The food bank appreciates any non-perishable food items! This includes canned vegetables, beans, fruit, meats such as tuna fish and salmon, soup, peanut butter, jelly, pasta, macaroni & cheese, packaged desserts, hot and cold cereal, fruit juice, stews, and chili. In addition to food, other items such as soap, toilet tissue, laundry detergent, diapers, personal hygiene products, and pet food are also welcome donations.

Collection boxes will be available in the classrooms.   All donations will be delivered to Paradise Valley Emergency Food Bank (PVEFB) on a weekly basis.

This is an incredible service project for our students and the food bank appreciates our support!

About Paradise Valley Emergency Food Bank

PVEFB’s main objective is to provide emergency assistance to individuals living within the boundaries of the Paradise Valley Unified School District.  PVEFB distributes food to families that would otherwise go hungry.  The emergency provisions provide wholesome, nourishing meals to families in need.  They bridge the gap until a long-term solution can be arranged.  For more information, visit http://www.pvefb.org.

The Coordinator for the Fall Food drive is Susan Duffield.  She would welcome volunteers to help with collections, tallies or deliveries.  If you can help, or if you would like to make a cash donation, please contact the PTO.  Please feel free to send any other comments or questions to the PTO mailbox as well.
